Good Movies in 2008

OMG OMG OMG!! Sooo many good movies out this year! And more to come! I'm psyched!!

So far I already watched (Not in order. Can't remember!):

Children of the Silk Road:

*** This is post of Children of the Silk Road is the latest movie I've watched.
This is the tale of George A. Hogg who brought 60 orphans through the Silk Road to escape the Japanese occupation and the Chinese government who plans to recruit the orphans to fight against the Japanese. Aided by an American nurse, they took 3 months and with determination they survived the journey (in the film, it states that it took them 700 miles). It has graphic scenes shown in which the Japanese mass murdered thousands of Chinese civilians either from gunning or bombing.

This movie is originally called The Children of Huang Shi but they renamed it here in Australia. It's is also a reminder of the Rape of Nanjing but it is related towards a man's determination, spirit and selflessness.

Horton Hears a Who:

By far, I found the animation soooo cute but the story line was ok. Some hilarious bits and nontheless, a nice family movie.

Jumper:

The trailer was done up better than the movie itself. Have nothing much to say on this one. I think it's more of those "Either you like it or you don't" kinda movie.

27 Dresses:

Typical chick-flick and ends with romance. However, other than the chick-flick fact, James Marsden is hot and is worthy of checking out. He's also the star as Prince Charming in Enchanted.

You Don't Mess With the Zohan

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Another one of Sandler's ridiculous comedy. Exaggeration was the focus hilarity point in this movie - especially the humus, Zohan's fighting and sex skills and his *cough cough* bush. If you enjoy movies like the Scary Movie series then this is definately for you.

Sex and the City

Ah...the much anticipated movie of the year (for most of you normal females and not to mention, males too.. :D). Surprisingly this has got my attention too due to the amount to requests to go and watch it. But I turned up at the cinema armed with a super-large cup of coke. Turns out, another chick-flick but I sorta enjoyed it. Quite witty with their placement of humour within the dialogues.

Kung Fu Panda:

"Kung fuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!" screams Po.. and I scream 'Kung-Fuuuuu Pandaaa is OUT!!!!'. I was really really looking forward to the release of this animation and the results? I was very pleased with the quality of this animation. However, I wanted more action of the 5 Masters - Mantis, Crane, Viper, Tigress and Monkey. This is another great family movie -funny, witty, heartwarming.

Drilbit Taylor

A movie aimed at high school bullying and giving us an insight about it. Not too bad but Drillbit's cheesy lines sent me way off. Another one of those stupidly humourous movies, I was disappointed as I expected something better especially with one with Owen Wilson starring in it.

Shutter

Aha! Finally a horror movie -- I was looking forward in watching it but instead I was utterly disappointed. Why? I expected like a scary looking ghost at least. But nooooo..I got a pleasant looking Jap-girl ghost instead. In comparison to the Thai version. Now that is what I call a scary ghost. American remakes of Asian horror movies? YOU SUCK!!!!!!

Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Prince Caspian should have been renamed Prince Charming. This is one HOT prince -- actor Ben Barnes. The Spanish accent was acted out perfectly giving him a really exotic attraction. *drools* This movie has quite a twist (I haven't read any of C.S Lewis' books) at the end. Unlike the Harry Potter sequence, this one is well directed and Director of Photography should be highly complimented (This is where my Film & Television studies come in..) . This can be ranked as high as Lord of the Rings.

The Incredible Hulk

I'm BIG. I'm GREEN. And I'm STRONG.

What am I?

Nontheless the Incredible Hulk - remake of the 2003 version. This one is well directed and what can I say. Most women are attracted to Edwar Norton. It's funny huh? He's not particularly good looking but he's appealing. Even as a hulk he's attractive --> Watch the movie and you'll understand. (Pssst..there's another hulk and he's butt ugly..) And oh yeah. There's a great nice surprise at the end.

10,000 BC

I don't believe in evolution. Why did I watch it then? To observe what other people depict we came from. This is a pretty interesting one and pretty weird at the same time. Dreadlocks were apparent then too. Nothing much to say about this film. It's just average, something that you'll probably forget after awhile.

Mesha's rating: 2 out of 5.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A dark, sinister musical movie with two of my favourite actors - Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman- starring, how could I not watch it? It's my type of movie definately. To my surprise this is a rather graphic musical with alot of blood. Not for the faint-hearted. Here's to another eccentric Depp movie.

Ironman:

Awesome movie! Was there at the opening of Ironman. Robert Downey Jr. gave his absolute best performance. Humour was entwined perfectly and not to obvious, surprising the audience with its wittiness. Just has a cheesy ending but other than that, I LOVE IT!

Mesha's Rating: 5 out of 5

Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With Kung Fu Panda sold out this was my Plan B. I expected something really really cheesy. OK I admit defeat! This is an A grade film and it is meant to look like an old film. I really enjoyed it to be honest and something I can recommend to friends and family.

Mesha's rating: 4 out of 5

Mongol:

The story behind the great Genghis Khan when times were barbaric. This movie is targeted at a rather old audience/mature audience as it is historic. I think I was the youngest in the cinema that day. The storyline is rather long but it is interesting to see how a young man could turn into history's greatest conquerer.

Mother's Visit

Mother came over on the 8th to spend time with me since it's been the first time that we've been away from each other for 3 months. She only had 5 days to spend with me which is sad but I managed to bring her to some places which I think was nice. Didn't manage to go to karaoke though. We did manage to go to a tour to the Pinnacles at half price - we've got a family friend who's a well-known travel business man in Perth. How lucky!

My beautiful mummy.

At the pinnacles, but this isn't a Mesha if she didn't have her mobile with her. OMG! Reception!

Peek-a-boo!! Now you see her! Now you don't!

Poser.

"The long road to Nowhere."

Funnily enough. We got lost. I admit it. We women do get lost too although our intuition of direction is still much better than men's. But I mean, WE WERE IN A FREAKING DESERT! Yes, I know..We were suppose to follow the tour but had to camwhore along the way and lost them. *ahem* But nevertheless.. we found our way back to the bus. Ooo..we were not alone, there was another couple that was lost too. But they were always doing the opposite of what they were meant to do..so..no excuse for us eh?

Not to mention, the bus driver told us off in a very very polite way. He made an announcement,

"We have to stick together as a group..."

One of the best fucking polite insult I've heard yet. *sigh*

I miss Mother sooo much...She's in New Zealand right now. Hahah freezing her ass off.

PSP: Limited Edition -- Simpsons Package!

Within the influence of my HK friends, I soon discovered the joy of PSP. Almost every HK student I've met has a PSP. Why? I dunno. When I first arrived in Perth my friend/ex-housemate, K, has one. Then not long later my other ex-housemate, Dai bought one (second-hand, but pretty new) to play. At times when K isn't using hers, I would borrow it off her and play whatever games she has on it. Ah the bliss of having a portable playstation. Boy, didn't I miss it.

Since the holday's started and all my newfound friends returned to their homeland, I am now BORED. It's uncommon to spot a Mesha in a cinema watching a movie alone or caught at JB Hi-fi buying a DVD to watch at home. When I think of it, I seriously do not know what I'm going to do with all these junk I've accumulated over the past few months. And apparently I'm suppose to be saving. Bullshit I tell you.

Originally, I wanted to buy a DVD to watch when I started thinking that the amount of DVDs I've bought is going to be enough for me to buy something that'll entertain me and not take up so much space. Then there it is. The PSP Slim&Lite staring at me through the glass cabinet. I stood there and couldn't decide. The Nintendo DS Lite was almost half the price of the PSP. Decisions decisions decisions..

Finally thought that the games for PSP appealed to me more and decided to buy it. The lady at the counter was helpful and showed me the LAST limited edition Simpsons package. I originally wanted the black but the sound of LIMITED EDITION was very tempting and when I thought of it more and more, it seems that almost everyone (Asian I've seen with a PSP) has a black one. So why not? Eventhough it's bright yellow. Matches my scarf and bad!! XD

For only $299 I've got the PSP and the game! Why not? The Simpsons game itself originally costs around $60AUD average in stores. So why not invest in a good entertainment electronic device? It's now charging but I hope to play it soon!

Carson Kressley in Perth! --Myers, May 17 2008

The long sought after fashionista/television star of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy ended his Myer's promotion appearance in Perth.
Carson Kressley, the fashion guru of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, made his apppearance in Myers where hundreds of Myer's shoppers and Kressley fans crowded the second floor.

His tv personality and true personality is absolutely same --funny, quirky and proud to be a homosexual. No wonder he's a well known star in comparison to the other queers in the tv series.

Not long ago, thankfully I bought this absolute killer heels that had me craning above the other audience although it did kill me that day.

Carson's presents..2 Aussies in Speedo's aka Budgie smugglers.

Shooting Range

Sorry folks for the wait! I've been sleeping over spending too much time at my friend's place and always seem to forget to bring my camera's cord so I have not been able to upload any photos. Since then..I am now the proud Mesha for having to shoot a gun!!

Looking like a science geek with the eye and ear protection.

My friend, Hanny, and his brother Waleed decided to go for a shooting range. Since it was our first time, it costed us $60AUD each for the training and 50 bullets for the semi-automatic and revolver. It may sound scary but in the end, it's more of a social thing where we competed one another to see how many bullets we could get into the target.

The target has to be at least 10 meters away --Now that's far!

Hhaha it's been my third time now but these are the photos from when I've first shot a gun. Not to mention I had a go at the shot gun too! Not to mention, it is one of my favourite guns.

Beware! Mesha knows how to shoot a shot gun and will not hesitate!

The funny thing is that Waleed decided to bring more and more of his friends to the shooting range and the main thing is that they are Egyptians ---> in other words, Arabs!! Lol SO..imagine more and more Arabs going to the shooting range. Felt like they were recruiting and training to build an army here in Perth. Even they made fun of this fact themselves. The funny thing, it's so true if you did not know that we were there for fun.
