Suicide & Depression

Depression is some of the leading sickness in the world. This can be caused by trauma and stress surrounding us. We tend to be put under pressure, especially from work and stress for being put under the pressure for wanting better performance.

Many have been through depression. The syptoms include:

  • Feeling miserable/ guilty all the time

  • Feel as if life isn't worth living

  • Feel lost of hope or despair

  • Feeling irritable

  • Lack of confidence

  • Don't have a social life anymore

  • Feeling scared of abandonment

  • Change in eating habit

I know what depression is like as my close family member has encountered this problem. It is sad to see that they have such mood swings and they attempt to let out their emotions on you. I have been through a phase where life has become unbearable, a feeling of drowning in a dark, cold pool of shadows. Where one lies there and wait for their life to pass by.

Normal people chitter and chat around them, they lose interest in it. One loses interest in Life itself. The very existence and presence of themselves annoys them and they wish that they would just fade away, into the darkness of death, where solitude takes hold of them.

Suicide has become the extreme phase of depression, where one has lost all hope of ever returning back to the normal life. Guilt, despair, desperation, stress and etc, leads to this very last phase. One wants to leave the depressing life and go to the darkness where it will comfort them.

Many teenagers also suffer from this problem. Hope is not lost, counselling services and medication can help to suppress these thoughts of death and sorrow. Take great care to help that some one you know that is suffering from this problem.

Lithium & Zombie

Lithium and Zombie are my favourite songs sang by Amy Lee of Evanescence and The Cranberries. Each of them having the same significance to my life.I don't have a habit of writing things about me on a blog, but this song and its meaning I have to share with you.

Lithium is about the heartaches of love,(most of Evanescence's songs are based on love anyways) but it is true to an extent in which how far will love go. Like the earlier blogs that I had on "Love" it reflects the negative side of love.

Lithium is a drug used in anti-depressants and I did mention depression as a side effect of heart brokeness. Amy wrote in the lyrics "I can't hold on to me, Wonder what's wrong with me?" which is so true. Many cannot grasp on the fact that they are depressed and have lack of interest in life. "Drown my will to fly, Here in the darkness I know myself.."reflects the dark side and the despair in which love can bring us down. We should not let love get to the better of us, no matter how hard it is to overcome.

The Cranberries song, Zombie, reflect the time of war. This is a rather sad song for me as many die in war and it is not a very good thing. Children and innocent ones die for no reason, all for the sake of the country to overtake and dominate the other country in pursuit of land, power and riches.

War caused by men have killed millions, not to mention bringing devastating effects on the country and its surrounding. Looking at Afghanistan, houses filled with bullet holes, and imagine your children brought up in this environment? How will they lead a normal life?

These problems are problems of the world and I personally hope that one day we will be free of these heart-aches and problems. Til we face a solution, be strong and hold on.

Death

We go through the same process in life, having being born, grow up, grow old and then facing death either through old age or disease. The real question is "What happens to us when we die?"
Usually this question slip through our minds once in a while. Most people do especially when they themselves face a situation in which they face death. Many though think about that question when their loved ones die. Another famous question is "Will we ever see them again?"

Many religion believe either in heaven or hell. Many too, believe that they will be join their loved ones again on the other side. How ever, Hell does seem like an unlikely place to rejoice in seeing your loved ones.

Hell, (my personal opinion) does not exist. If you believe that God the Almighty is merciful, loving and especially forgiving, why does he send us to Hell for the deeds that we have made? It seems unlikely that a father would send his own child to suffer for a long time for things that can be taught and mend. If you believe that God is our father, He wouldn't do such a thing like sending us, his children into an eternity of fiery furnace.

Death, however, isn't an image in which that it is scary. To many, it seems to be a place of solitude and silence, alone in the deep, cold earth. There is another point of view, in which death can be treated as a time in which we sleep for a long time, only to be resurrected in time. Resurrected to a time and place that would be known to no suffering, a Paradise.

This belief, is taken from a Jehovah's Witness point of view. This point though, no matter how argued, seems more realistic than being in Heaven or Hell. Either way, we humans do have a tendency to doubt about what is happening to our body, our life, our existence, our memory. We want to be remembered, and we are, being watched by the heavenly stars from above.

Love

Everyday, we see love, though many may not realise it. Love is passion, it is the things we love doing. It may be the way we care for our friends, family and others, or simply loving what we do best. Love comes naturally to us humans, whether we want to love it or not.

However, it is hard to really find true love (in my case). Many sought dating agencies and other type of ways to hook up with people in persuit of their desire to find their true love. We, humans, tend to be picky and find faults in others, but how are we to find the one we truly love?

Personally, I believe that we are meant to find our true love. This one, will be the one that we can share our dreams and ambition and carry them out together. One proverbs says that Love is to look at the same direction, meaning that our soulmate will be the one where we'll share our same ideaology, concept and principles in life.

Love however can bring downfalls in our lives. Many sought love and end up in disappointment. Suicide and depression are often the result of being cheated upon and being hurt in the process.
Why would one person have an affair with another if they pretend that they love them? Love should be where a couple shares their ups and downs together. If a perspn has a realtionship with another just for the sake of a sexual relationship, forget about the person. It is not worth wrecking your life in the process.

Those that are in love, make your relationship worthwhile and appreciate your partner. It is not easy to come across those that make you happy in life. Take some quality time to improve your relationship and keep that spark in your life. Arguments are easily overcomed by having an open mind and think through your partner's advice. It may be hard for some, but it could help both parties to see things clearer. Do not ever cheat on your partner. It is wrong and it will bring a dramatic effect on both of you.

Those that are single, keep searching and seeking. We all hope that some day we will meet that person of our dreams. It is not wrong to meet up with others and start from there. But don't ever leave the person feeling bad if you think that person is not meant for you. They still can be friends and maybe who knows what the future holds?

Mother

We all came through a natural process in life, that is being born out of a woman, known as mother. The instant connection, between a child and the mother is instant. We women, have this feeling of bond and natural affection for your child(though not all get to enjoy this sensation, those that suffer from post natum depression).

We children take for granted the fact that we have our mothers to support us. She may scold us for what we cannot see, but she means the best for us. I personally went through a stage where I thought she hated me. But I don't think that I'm alone in this problem.

It's true, that some mothers don't know their responsibility of being one. Some mothers have kids just for the fact that they can get money out of their ex-husbands, I've met people with mothers like that, and I find that it is a shame to have a mother like that. The fact that their laziness to get money from the child support after their divorce overtakes urge to have a child and care for the child is slack is disturbing. A mother's influence is crucial in the developmental stage of the child. Lack of education and care for the child will lead to bad habits, such as stealing, fighting and etc.

My mother brought me up single-handedly. Without a father, I lack the care and attention from my mother when she goes to work, leaving me in the care of my grandparents. Over the years, my mother and I have nothing in common, she a perfectionist, me a slack one. We constantly argue about the things that we cannot see eye to eye. Sometimes, we have such a big argument, it leads to thoughts of hate.

Despite the fact that we have these arguments, I know she meant the best for me. She has given the biggest sacrifice in her life to make my dreams come true. She worked as a flight attendent for Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and loved travelling around the world whilst earning a good pay each month. After almost 13 years in the airlines industry, she quitted her job in order for me to come to Australia, to fulfill a dream which will not come true. This job meant alot to her, and now I finally see the effort and sacrifice that she has done for me.

Children, see that your parents (especially your mother), love you and want the best for you. Despite the fact that they always grumble, nag and shout at you at things that does not necessarily make sense, be aware that they do love you. It takes time to see the result of the constant naggings, but now I do, and I hope that you'll see it too.

Suffering

Our world is filled with suffering. We suffer from disease, natural disasters, wars and extreme poverty in some countries.

Many suffer greatly from diseases such as cancer, HIV, AIDS and etc. They affect us greatly upon our lives. Surely no one will want to contract such diseases. If man's knowledge of science is so great, why aren't there people cured from such diseases? Many people die on the account of not getting the proper treatment. Science does take time, but how many more will suffer in account? We have waited for a long period, how much longer will it take?

Who controls the earth? There are many answers to that one. Some say God, some say men. If men were to rule and control the earth, can't they have stopped the earthquakes and tsunamis from happening? In fact, men can't help it with these problems, thus we can assume that men cannot rule or control everything. Those who believe in God, will say that God controls the earth. But why then is he so unmerciful that he sends tidal waves, earthquakes and erupting volcanoes? They may say that it is his right to take the lives of those that he need in heaven. But the fact is, that He was suppose to be kind, merciful and loving, not a being that takes the life of others because he wants to. Nor does the story of how you will be sent to Hell is true either, if you truly question yourself, how loving is God when he sends you into a burning chamber to be tortured for eternity by demons? Remember that the demons are not on God's side, why would they then help God to torture the condemned ones?

Wars, caused by men for the desire to colonialise other's land. Greed is the sheer sin that is reflected upon us. Wars have sent millions of people to their grave for the sake of their country. Do you think the government cares? Recently in Australia, pensioners that were ex-soldiers weren't even taken care of properly, whent they were suppose to be taken care of for life. Politicians takes the advantage of the fact that many would die for their country. I wouldn't.
This reflects once again that men can't rule over us properly. How are we ever going to have a world that is peaceful?

We have to work together and put all thoughts of hatred and greed aside to actually be as one. Being one wouldn't be such a bad idea as then there will be no war for land, famine as the government will supply food for their people and cure them of their sickness. This is the spirit of togetherness. Together, we will succeed.
