Mesha --> Bored = SHOPPING

"Hmm...That's what I've been looking for all along..."

Thursday = No classes for Mesha. So I booked and made a reservation for 3:30pm to get my hair washed, trimmed and blown dry. $60 AUD..cheaper than the one I went to in QLD. One thing I miss about Malaysian salons is that when you say WASH and BLOW DRY..they actually give you about a 15 minutes worth of a head massage. Here...they wash your hair ( like they don't even scrub your scalp) for about 3 mins and then a rinse. That's it. Finito.

You are probably wondering how much they cost. Well, for such a small job it's around $60 AUD. This is just a standard. Queensland--> $75AUD for a style cut only. Not even a wash..

I arrived in the city around 2:15pm so I had an hour to kill. As a girl, I do what we are meant to do best - SHOP! I walked around and headed to the nearest Valley Girl. They have very stylish outfits for a reasonable price. I'm not those kinda girl which splurges huge amount of money on branded clothes. I would if I find them reasonable. Value for money..The most important thing is quality. You may buy somethings cheap but if their quality sucks (like shrinking when you was it) may as well invest in something good and last for a while.

The Heat!! OMG I hate it..Hate it with a passion! When I was in Katoomba and it was cold, my pimples vanished. Heat= pimples for me. Oh dear! It's Autumn but still feels like Summer. Summer, summer Go Away! Be Gone!

So what did I find at Valley Girl? Well, I'm into the Gothic style though I don't have any clothes as of so. A cardigan would be good for the near future cold weather..so I splurged. Hey it's alright once in a while no? Ok OK! I admit it. I have been shopping whenever I go to the city. This is my confession!

Here's what I bought since:

Books for College..oo Wait..The Daily Miracle? I need that!

Make-up Products I bought at Myers..Biotherm..lol I got a mini sample! How Cute!

My Pink Corset Top! I <3>

A cardigan I got..

Perth Oh Perth...

Update: Finally changed units. Initially chose Media, Communication & Information (MCI), Professional Writing and Presentation (PWP), and Journalism (JRN). Dropped MCI and took up Film & Television. Wonder what lies in store for me?
You may think I might have been busy with all these new things happening around me. Right? Well sorry to disappoint you but you're WRONG!!!!!!!!! Wrong I say!

Doing the 3 3 2, which means I only do 3 units per semester and 2 in the last semester, means it's a rather easy one in comparison to the 4&4 which means 4 units per semester. Aikes! My brain can't absorb that much in one. I need a slow and steady pace for me to learn. Sometimes I think I resemble a tortoise. But slow and steady wins the race no?

So with 3 units meaning that I have only 3 days worth of classes I was overjoyed! Initially that is...
Until I saw the assignments that we have...My heart stopped pouding. It looks so hard! I hope my poor lil brain can function accordingly. MCI was ok though it reminded me of those TOK essays I had to do in high school. It challenges the way we think and perceive the things surrounding us. Hmm..it's almost as complicated as philosophy to me then.
PWP was alright, just teaching us the skills of interviewing and writing as of the title (like DUH).

We watched half of Lost in Translation to see how communication is so important and barriers such as language and accents can confuse people. Our audiences also play a part as to how we are to attract them..etc..etc..etc..

Friday - Journalism..I hope it's as interesting as I expect it to be. Then Film and Television..hmm future Ten News reporter? lol naw..I think I shall stick to flying..I'm not that brave to be infront of a camera in which millions would watch on TV.
Anyways, back to Perth. Perth is a city, a city which now holds the reputation of boring me and my room mate. This is just Perth down town itself though..

Perth or Europe? Make up your mind!!!!!!!!!!!

Orientation in CIC

First day at Curtin International College, boy, was I frightened. Nancy, my host parent was suppose to take me to college but she was too lazy I guess. Dai, one of my room mates had to show us which bus to take. Me and another Chinese boy from Fuzhou, Leo.

Arriving at the uni's bus stop, my first impression of the uni - small. But oh! To my surprise it was huge!!! It was literally a maze, each pathway intersecting and leads you to another the other end of the school.

Nevertheless, Dai was there to guide us through. Heaps and heaps of students already congregated infront of building 205 -Curtin Int. College.
We had to seperate into 2 groups. 1 for Commerce students and 1 for Design, Mass Communication and IT students. I wondered why there was only 2 groups with such huge numbers. When the Commerce students started lining up it showed that there were heaps and heaps of people doing that course. Gees...who would have thought?

Guess what? Mass Communications students - 6. Yes..6 of us! All girls too! I made a new mate quite quickly. Rebecca - Scottish girl but citizen of Australia. You still could hear her Scottish accent quite faintly.

Anyways, each group had a mentor to show you around the campus. It was huge and it was hot. It was like 39 degrees and I'm not kidding here. It's hot and I mean hot hot hot!
Once you're in a college next to a uni, you'll never look back and say I miss high school. Why?
Everything is in the university grounds. To name a few, they have a bank, ATM machines, optometrist, pharmacy, travel agency, cafes, book shop and etc..And of course no uniform..(like duh..)

To my surprise, my mentor, Khalisah is Malaysian..Woo? Malaysia Boleh? haha well of course we conversed in English, I mean it's rude to go off in your own language and leave the others out of the conversation.

After a tour of the campus, we were dragged to the computer labs and there we had to enroll what units we wanted. My college has a system of either 4&4 or 3,3&2. 4&4 meant that you would finish in October, leaving you 5 months of spare time. However, you cannot remain in Australia for more than 2 months if you're not studying, meaning you have to go back home and re-enter. I decided to do the 3,3&2, which would finish in mid-January. It's easier, since I will only do 3 units in the first two semester and 2 units in the third. Hmm...

And oo..I love choosing what units I want cause then I will know what days I will have to come for my class. Since it's 3 units = 3 days! hehe I get Monday and Thursday off, only having classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Woo!! I think I will enjoy this. I also might apply for a working visa which will allow me to work.

Arrival in Perth

" My princess, don't be scared or cry for me. Be Strong. I'll come see you when I come back, I promise. You always long to be a big and grown girl. There you go! Just the beginning. Just study hard for your future. I want you to have a bright future with a career with huge income...I LOVE YOU. Always remember that..."

So...I've arrived in Perth and missing Mother so badly too. How bad? Bad enough to make me want to hear her nagging. I woke up at 3:10am to get ready and left at 3:55am. Arrived at Brisbane Airport at 4am, waited for half an hour in queue and then checked in.

Got to Melbourne Airport with an hour and ten minutes transit. Nothing much to do so I went to the cafe to get a filo. Ricotta and spinach..sounded yummy at first but tasted horrible, so in the end I chucked it. Got on to plane and the 4 hour journey from Melbourne to Perth..SO NOT FUN. Why? The local airline does not provide free meal or drink. Still acceptable but pay-movies? WTF? Such scungers...

Arrived at the airport and found the driver. Got my luggage and drove all the way to my homestay family. Nancy...a name you wouldn't have imagined for an Indonesian woman! Surprise surprise..she has 2 houses..the one I arrived in was the main one where she, her husband and daughter lived. The international kids had the seperate house. Me being the youngest got the largest room. =D

After a while they went out to do their things and I got stuck at home alone. The other students were at college for their orientation. Mine's tomorrow.. Some how..it just got too quiet and I thought of my Mother. I cried..thinking that it would be fun being all alone and trying to be grown up. Not really. I miss the company of mum and yes I'm attached to her. I just try to be strong and get on with life like the other international students.

"Big Girls Don't Cry"
So true. I'm still a lil child inside and maybe this is the best time for me to be more independent. Perth is a hot place for me to learn though.
Living with me in this house is Nancy's niece and her husband, both in one room. There are 2 other students, both Chinese but one from HK and the other China. Not too bad..They seem real friendly. Maybe I'll get used to it..just need to sleep on it.
